Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effluerage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapopment (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain and joint stiffness. It helps patients who have poor circulation and reduces stress levels.

Myofascial Release

 

Myofascial release refers to a massage technique for stretching the fascia (a layer of fibrous tissue that permeates the human body) with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and equilibrioception. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions, or by skin rolling.

 

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling.

Hot Stone Massage

A hot stone massage uses water-heated stones to apply pressure and heat to the body. Stones are coated in oil and used by the therapist to deliver various massage strokes. As the stones are placed along the recipient's body, they help to retain heat which then deeply penetrates into the muscles, releasing tension.

Trigger point therapy

Trigger point therapy involves deactivating trigger points that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations (such as headaches) in other parts of the body. Manual pressure is applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage helps pregnant women to relax tense muscles and reduce stress and anxiety associated with labor. It also works to relieve pain.
The expanding womb puts a lot stress on the shoulders, abdominal area and back muscles of the mother, and lower back pain is very common during pregnancy. A massage therapist can apply pressure to specific sore spots to relieve tension and pain.

Infant Massage  

 

Touch is as important to infants and children as eating and sleeping. Touch therapy triggers many physiological changes that help infants and children grow and develop. Massage lowers the level of stress hormones, resulting in improved immune function.

The results of several studies showed that infant massage alleviates the stress that newborns experience as a result of the enormous change that birth brings about in their lives after the 6-9 months they have spent in the womb. Babies need the relaxation that comes from massaging and moving their limbs and muscles. The stimulation an infant receives from massage can aid circulation, strengthen muscles, help digestion, and relieve constipation.

 

Paraffin

Paraffin is a treatment for the symptoms of joint and muscle conditions, such as arthritis, that consists of hot melted mineral wax which is applied to hands and feet.
